So after what I said about crochet bunting, um, here’s a pattern for some more… A variation on the tropical theme, hopefully more ‘affectionate homage’ than ‘blatant rip-off’…
I’ve used the Woolyknit 100% British Wool Aran again, apart from the seeds, which were a scrap of old grey aran I had left over.
You will need: Aran-weight yarn in pink and green, small amount of black or dark grey, 5mm crochet hook.
UK crochet abbreviations:
dc: double crochet
htr: half treble
So here goes:
They will need blocking – I was lazy and gave them a quick press with a hot steam iron, which gives them a slightly felty look, which I don’t mind. If you want to retain the stitch definition, then it’s pin, damp and wait I’m afraid!
And there you have it! If you want to make them into bunting, make a long chain and use the end you didn’t sew in to sew them on at intervals. But you could put them on anything, really… Ooh, you could do circular ones for coasters! These ones are about 3 1/2 ” by 1 1/2 “, so coasters might need to be a bit bigger…
Also, this is my first ever crochet pattern, so if you notice any really novice errors, please do let me know!
